About me
Deniz Özdemir is an OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) and GPEN (GIAC Penetration Tester) certified ethical hacker (white hat) specialized in network and web application penetration testing, system hacking, SAMM, SSDLC, threat analysis and exploitation. She obtained her MSc and Bsc degrees in Linnaeus University, Sweden in Computer science – specialized in network security.
After working as a web security expert in banking and insurance industries for more than a decade and providing training to both technical and C-level managers around Europe and Japan, she has moved her career path towards teaching and research on the security of futuristic technologies and artificial intelligence. She is currently working at Czech Technical University in CIIRC (Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics) as a researcher for Horizon2020 CSI-COP project, acting as the team leader of the younger researchers team. Furthermore, she is a guest lecturer at University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien.
Being OWASP Swedish Student Chapter Leader, she is keen on educating students about the cutting-edge cyber security techniques at numerous conferences and lectures.
Apart from her work and studies, she has a keen interest in fine arts, for which she obtained contemporary arts education in Finland and in university studies in Prague to be an aspiring creative illustrator. She also plays drums, enjoys fantasy themed video and old-school board games, low-key photography and story writing.
Research description
For her PhD degree, she would like to now utilize her technical knowledge for the humanities disciplines to study innovative companion robots which could aid to promote longevity. She is interested in transhumanism, ethics and privacy, cyber security, hacking and indie game development and keen to perform her thesis around such concepts.
